President of the National HRD (NHRD),
It is with a feeling of gratitude and a sense of responsibility that I start to write this note. Wish to thank all the members for reposing faith and selecting me as the President of the National HRD (NHRD) Network, Bangalore Chapter for the next two year term 2015-17.
The chapter has a long history of 25 years , a legacy of great leadership and a chapter that has been recognised last two years in a row as the “Best Chapter” of the country. We have been recognised for the quality of our programs, membership engagement, strong financial base, compliance & governance and above all innovative in our offerings. Although, I have been intensely involved in the last few years with the chapter, it is an exciting time to further raise the bar and expand our offerings, besides build a structure for sustainability of the chapter.
ENGAGE. CONTRIBUTE. INSPIRE. – will be our theme. It is equally relevant to members as well – urge you all to engage with the activities of the chapter, contribute to the chapter and be an inspiring member for the community to learn from.
We have a very accomplished team to drive various initiatives, and I am so privileged to have them part of the EC. They are all very committed to furthering the cause of the chapter. Let me highlight the key areas of impact – (by a separate mail, we will introduce the team)
Member Engagement – This is a significant area of impact and a value add for our members. Monthly meets, cluster meets and other new initiatives – The most looked forward to monthly NHRD meeting: last Thursday of every month is a “not to be missed” day in the calendar for our members.
HR Showcase - This has become a national event and a signature event of the Bangalore Chapter. We will focus on four verticals this year – Corporate next best HR practice, HR Start up, HR Research and Corporate CSR best practice. Very happy to share that “Titan Company” has confirmed to continue as the Title sponsor of the event. It will be on 11th September 2015…watch this space.
Continuing Education - it’s a new area of focus. Fast track has been a flagship program. We want to expand the offering here, and provide continuous skill development opportunity for professionals & faculty alike. Stay tuned for more…
Student & Academic Institution engagement – This has been built in a robust manner last few years, and we will continue to strengthen this space. Step up, Student Connect, Swayamvar, ‘Shadow the leader’ have been some of our programs. A formal Student Council of NHRD Bangalore will also be put in place.
Technology – We have in a small way started improving on the infrastructure, website etc., We will put a roadmap in place for engaging members through technology – Blogs, Youtube, webcasts / webinars etc., Also, pleased to share that we have just concluded a discussion to implement AVAMO - a WhatsApp equivalent for enterprises. Members will get a separate mail on how to be part of this app.
My team and I will strive hard to continue the good work, governance & compliance and meet the very high standards set by the previous committees. We hope to build resilience and sustainability within the chapter through our initiatives and engagement of the members.
I seek your active participation and support in taking the network to greater heights. I look forward to meeting with you on several occasions over the coming two years.
